Western Veil Nebula (NGC 6960 - Witch's Broom)

A supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus (Cygnus Loop) and is roughly 2,400 light-years away from Earth. The Veil Nebula (eastern & western) are the brightest remains of what was once a star 20 times more massive than our Sun, which exploded some 10,000-20,000 years ago as a super nova. Its fast-moving blast wave is crashing into a wall of cool, sense interstellar gas, exciting it to glow.
